Report 34: The Elders in the Streets of Quezon City

Studies have been published to show the conditions of the elderly in the Philippines. But most of them dealt only on the figures and statistics about the elderly sector. There is a need to show their usefulness in our society despite old age and to analyze the current situation that the elders have. Because of these, the researchers purposely conducted a study on elderly vendors.

The research used a non-experimental, descriptive study specifically one-shot case study which shows the condition of the elderly vendor in two areas in Quezon City: Philcoa and Cubao.

Three data gathering methods were used in conducting the research. Case studies were conducted and interviews were administered to our elderly vendor participants. Moreover, one key informant from the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs and two key informants from the Federated Association of Senior Citizen in Quezon City Incorporated were interviewed about the programs for the elderly in the area. From these, results were tabulated and classified.
