 Description:

A house is one of the basic needs of humans. However, there are those who are not too blessed to even have a house. Some have houses but now faces the threat of losing it. Research had been made about the housing program of the University, but it failed to take into account the overstaying occupants in their housing units.

An estimate of 150 housing units in Pook Amorsolo, U.P. Diliman is occupied by retired employees of the University. The contract of lease states that they should vacate those units 2 years after retirement. However, these retirees, and the current employees in the area, through the community-based organization (PARA-U.P.), formulated some arguments and submitted a petition to the Housing Office of the University asking the administration to just award Pook Amorsolo to its residents forever.

To further understand the housing situation of Pook Amorsolo, the researchers interviewed the Housing Office, three retirees, one current employee, and conducted a focus group discussion with PARA-U.P. The researchers have learned that there are a number of factors that affect how these residents comply with their contract. You will learn more about this in Chapter IV-B: Analysis of Data.

Through this research, the researchers have identified the faults and flaws of both the University and the Pook Amorsolo residents. If the recommendations will be done, it may solve the housing issues in Pook Amorsolo and it may prevent the same things from happening again.
