College of Social Work and Community Development Library
This project proposes the establishment of a Center within an academic institution to advance theory building in participatory development. It will facilitate forums on development concerns, share practical experiences, and evaluate strategies, promoting “theorizing from below” and creating indigenous materials. The Center will also focus on capacity building among marginalized groups, community leaders, and development professionals through training in community organizing, project management, and gender issues. Additionally, it will engage in advocacy and networking, supporting campaigns on key development issues and providing a database to influence policies. Overall, the project emphasizes continuous development of theory, skills, and advocacy, involving practitioners and community members throughout.
