The Pineda Story

Pineda is an urban poor community that occupies 2.8 hectares along the Pasig River in Pasig City. It is packed with roughly 700 urban poor homes; with more than one family occupying a house. Government’s plan was to clear a 10-meter easement along the entire length of the river which will affect 270 homes in Pineda. The 10-meter easement became a contentious issue; its necessity remaining unjustified given that it would displace hundreds of families.
