Community organizing is the coordination of cooperative efforts and campaigns carried out by local residents to promote the interests of their community. Many Development and Peace partners employ the techniques of community organizing in their work to empower groups of poor citizens. This story is written by one such grassroots group, APOAMF – an alliance of poor families who live alongside a man-made flood control channel in Manila, Philippines – and how they were assisted by a Development and Peace partner, Community Organizing Multiversity, also known as COM. Their story begins just before the building of the floodway.
