 Description:

The last revision of the BS Community Development (BSCD) curriculum was done eleven years ago. Currently, the Department of Community Development in the College of Social Work and Community Development, University of the Philippines, Diliman is planning to review the curriculum. It is thus inevitable that the current curriculum being used for BSCD will be revised. For this reason, the researchers felt that they can make a major contribution by conducting this study, hoping that they can provide initial data and information that may be used and deliberated upon when the time comes that the actual revision of the curriculum will be done. Furthermore, the researchers realized that the students should participate if and when this curricular revision occurs.

This research intends to review and evaluate the core courses of the BSCD curriculum and to come up with recommendations on how it can be improved further. It will highlight the students’ perceptions on the content and design of the said courses. In collecting the students’ perceptions, the researchers came up with a guiding framework which the students used in evaluating the curriculum. Since this study focuses on reviewing the curriculum, it will limit itself to the review of its course content and design only and not on the handling of the course.
