Water and Household Income: A Commodity or a Right? The perceptions of an Urban Poor Community

The purpose of this study was to explore the relation of household income with the perception of an individual as to water. The reason for examining such a relation was based on the premise that one’s household income will directly or indirectly influence the way an individual views water. Aside form this, the study aims to uncover personal insights on poverty in general and what people deem as the root of the issue. The problems of this paper are as follows:

  1. How do the residents in Sitio Palanas B perceive water? Is it only a commodity or a right?
  2.  To what extend does the household income influence an individual’s perception of water in Sitio Palanas B? and
  3. What are the factors aside from household income, affect the perceptions of the people in Sitio Palanas B?
